The Scotch Bonnet Chili is the Caribbean variety of the Habanero pepper and a true classic in the chili world. With average values of 100,000 to 300,000 Scoville it is one of the hottest chillies in the world.
The plant’s typically furrowed fruits have a tropical, fruity flavour and develop an unbelievably rich and many-faceted aroma. Their taste is similar to a Habanero, but softer with more fruity flavours and a little sweeter without any bitter notes. Some describe the flavour as tomato-like with notes of apple and cherry. Scotch Bonnet chili flakes are well-suited for using when cooking original Jamaican food, like Jerk, but they also fit well with salsas (with fruits), rice dishes, fish and desserts.
